Director General of Bangla Academy Habibullah Siraji is no more.
He died at a private hospital in the capital around 11pm on Monday (Innalillahi wa inna ilaihe rajiun).
Bangla Academy Secretary AHM Lokman confirmed the news of his death to the media. He had been suffering from a physical illness for the past few months.
On April 27, he was admitted to Bangladesh Specialized Hospital and placed on ventilation support (life support). Habibullah Siraj has been serving as the Director General of Bangla Academy since 2018.
He was born on 31 December 1948 in Faridpur district. He received his secondary education from Faridpur Zilla School, his higher education from Faridpur Rajendra College and his higher education from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
