The BGB is taking to the field from Sunday at the ferry terminal to stop the influx of homebound people on Eid.
BGB public relations officer Shariful Islam confirmed the BGB deployment on Saturday, saying the BGB would be deployed at Mawa and Paturia, two important ferries from Dhaka to the southern districts, mainly to maintain law and order as per the demand of the district administration. BGB Director (Operations) Lt. Colonel Faizur Rahman told the media on Saturday night that the required number of BGB has been deployed since Saturday evening in collaboration with Munshiganj and Manikganj district administrations.
More BGB will be deployed on Sunday. Aricha BIWTC DGM Zillur Rahman said the pressure on passengers has increased since Saturday evening. At present 16 ferries are crossing the road.
