Sylhet's Bishwanath police have arrested a young man for allegedly making offensive and satirical videos about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and spreading them on social media.
His name is Anhar Ali (30). He is the son of late Qari Ahmad Ali of East Dashghar village in Dashghar union of the upazila. Police sent him to Sylhet court on Thursday.
Earlier on Wednesday (April 28) at around 7 pm, he was arrested from his business Mahi Digital Photo Studio in Peer Bazar of the union. Posted on Facebook ID.
A team of police led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Arup Sagar Gupta Kamal raided the Pir Bazaar and arrested Anhar Ali from his business Mahi Digital Studio.
Manohar Hossain Munna, convener of Bishwanath Sadar Union Juba League, has filed a case against the accused Anhar Ali under the Digital Security Act.
Confirming the case, Bishwanath Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shamim Musa said, "The arrested accused Anhar Ali has been sent to the Sylhet court this morning."
