Two more cases have been filed against Maulana Mamunul Haque, the joint secretary general of Hefazat-e-Islam. The case was filed by two separate plaintiffs at Paltan Police Station on Sunday.
Apart from Mamunul, three other joint secretaries of Hefazat have also been accused. They are Lokman Hakim, Junaid Al Habib and Nasir Uddin Monir. Paltan Police Station OC Abu Bakar Siddique said that on March 26, Baitul Mukarram was vandalized and two separate cases were registered in connection with the incident.
In addition to the four accused, anonymous accused have also been made. Hefazat's central joint secretary general Mamunul came to discuss the issue of multiple marriages after he was detained along with a woman at a resort in Sonargaon area of Narayanganj on April 3. After being arrested from Jamia Rahmania Arabia Madrasa in Dhaka's Mohammadpur on April 18 at noon, police remanded Mamunul for seven days for questioning in a sabotage case at Mohammadpur police station.
