Lutfar Rahman Mollah of Bhabanipur village and his farming associates Sunil Bepari and Sunil Mistry, workers of Nazirpur upazila, smashed the nests of more than a hundred babui birds with bamboo in two palm trees next to a paddy field on Saturday afternoon.
During this time they dumped many bird nests in the canal water. More than two hundred babui chicks died in it. Hundreds of chicks and eggs were found in the broken bird nests. Locals said Lutfar Rahman Mollah and his three brothers had planted boro paddy on about 50 bighas of land in the village. Fearing that they would eat the paddy of that land, they demolished the nests of the babui birds.
