Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that the woman who was with Hefazat's joint secretary general Mamunul Haque at the Sonargaon resort is not his wife. Haque was staying with a woman. She is not his wife.
The minister said he did not know why the Hefazat people attacked the resort after the incident was televised. There were some foreigners there.
"The police and the BGB have gone and rescued them," he said. Referring to the recent Hefazat violence across the country, he said, "There must be some motive behind such sudden violence." He said, "We are investigating.
According to the law, action will be taken against anyone who commits violence. No one will be spared. Mamunul Haque claimed the woman as his second wife.
Hefazat activists and his followers attacked and vandalized the resort at night when news of his arrest spread. Later they took Mamunul away from there.
