Mild earthquakes have been felt in different districts of the country.

At 9:19 pm on Monday, a mild earthquake was felt in different parts of the country including Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Joypurhat, Nilphamari, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Panchagarh, Bogra, Natore, Kushtia and Bagerhat. Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Ahsan of the Meteorological Department confirmed the information.

He said the epicenter of the quake was 300 km from Dhaka. The magnitude of the quake was 5.6. Our correspondents from different districts reported that a 10-second earthquake shook many homes.

Many rush to the open. No casualties were immediately reported. Meanwhile, the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim was shaken by the quake along with Bangladesh.

According to the European-Mediterranean Earthquake Center (EMSC), the quake struck at 9:19 pm Bangladesh time.

The magnitude of the quake was 5.4 on the Richter scale. The quake was felt on the Nepal-Sikkim border.

The quake was also felt in Assam, Bihar and parts of West Bengal.
