Oliyar Rahman, the father of Jannat Ara Jharna, the 'second wife' of Mamunul Haque, the joint secretary general of Hefazat-e-Islam, has been taken into police custody.
A team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police DMP's DB Police took him from Faridpur's Alfadanga Police Station to Dhaka around 11:30 am on Sunday.
He was expelled from the meeting of the executive committee of the union Awami League on the afternoon of April 21. Alfadanga police OC Md. Wahiduzzaman told the media that Oliyar Rahman was not detained or arrested.
DMP's DB police will talk to him (Olivier) in the interest of investigating their case. He added, "We brought him to the police station earlier on Saturday night."
A DB team left for Dhaka with Oliyar Rahman around 11:30 am on Sunday. As far as I know, he has been taken to Dhaka for the purpose of investigating the case.
I don't know the reason why he was taken away. Earlier on April 12, the union sent a notice to show why Oliyar Rahman would not be expelled from the Awami League. The notice asked him to respond within seven days.
Later on April 21, the executive meeting of the Union Awami League decided to temporarily expel Oliyar from the party.
