There have been two cases of clashes between BNP leaders and activists and police in Chittagong. The case was registered at Kotwali Police Station on Monday night. Police have filed two cases under the Attack on Police and Explosives Control and Special Powers Act. Kotwali Police Station OC Nezam Uddin said 57 people were named in the case.
Besides, 50 to 60 people have been made anonymous accused. He said top leaders of Chittagong Metropolitan BNP were present at the spot.
Mahanagar BNP convener Shahadat Hossain, Nagar Mahila Dal president Monowara Begum and 16 others have already been arrested in the two cases. They were produced in court today and remanded for seven days. Police clashed with party leaders and activists in front of the Nagar BNP office at Nasimon Bhaban in the city on Monday afternoon, injuring at least 21 people, including police.
