At least 53 anti-coup protesters were killed by security forces in different parts of the country. A policeman was also killed in the violence. Thousands of Myanmar people took to the streets on Monday to protest against the military coup. Members of the security forces also opened fire on the protesters.

Eyewitnesses said supporters of the country's detained Democratic leader Aung San Suu Kyi marched again in Mandalay and the central city of Mingyan. Police opened fire on the procession. On Sunday, security forces shot dead 37 people in the Lingthia industrial area of ​​Yangon.

At least 16 protesters were killed in separate incidents. Several Chinese-funded factories in the Laingthia industrial area were set on fire on Sunday. As the area began to be covered in smoke, members of the security forces stormed the protesters. Security forces shot dead 37 people there. However, neither side has claimed responsibility for the factory burning. Meanwhile, the Chinese embassy in Myanmar said after the incident, many Chinese workers were injured and trapped when unidentified miscreants set fire to a garment factory in Lingthaiya.

In this situation, the Chinese embassy asked Myanmar for help in protecting their assets and citizens. Incidentally, the protesters see China as a supporting force of the ruling junta government in Myanmar.

Protests that have erupted since the coup have sparked widespread anti-China sentiment. Meanwhile, the Assistant Association for Political Prisoners (APP), which works to help Myanmar's political prisoners, said 16 more people had been killed in the violence. A policeman was also killed. On February 1, Myanmar's military overthrew the elected government and seized power.

Since then, anti-coup protests have been going on in the country. According to the APP, 140 people have been killed so far in the ongoing protests. Besides, 2,150 people have been detained till last Saturday.
