Police have arrested a teacher accused of brutally beating and injuring a madrasa student at Hathazari in Chittagong. Hafeez Muhammad Yahya, 26, was arrested from the municipal area around 4:30 pm on Wednesday. Hathazari Model Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Touhid confirmed the matter. He said he had been arrested for beating the student.
A case is being prepared against him. Earlier on Tuesday, a video of a madrasa student named Muhammad Yasin Farhad (8) being brutally beaten and injured spread on social media Facebook. The incident took place at the Markazul Quran Islamic Academy near the Konak Community Center in Hathazari municipal area.
On Tuesday night, the family of the beaten madrasa student requested the administration to release the teacher in writing without seeking any legal remedy. After that, the police released the detained teacher. He was arrested again on Wednesday.
