Four people were killed in separate road accidents at Bhaluka and Tarakanda in Mymensingh. According to eyewitnesses and police, a truck and a CNG-powered autorickshaw collided head-on on the Mymensingh-Netrokona regional highway at around 4pm on Saturday.
One died on the spot when a CNG-powered autorickshaw from Netrokona to Mymensingh was crushed by a truck heading to Netrokona. Another died at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
The deceased were identified as Bijan Krishna Roy, 58, and Abul Kashem, 32. Bijan is the son of Bisweshwar Roy of Bagichapara village in Durgapur upazila of Netrokona. Abul Kashem is the son of Nawab Ali of Bangsipara village in Durgapur. OC of Tarakanda police station Md. Abul Khair said a truck and a CNG-powered autorickshaw collided, killing one on the spot and another at the hospital. On the other hand, the driver and helper were killed when a pickup van lost control of the truck on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Bhaluka.
According to the police, the driver and helper of the pickup died when a pickup van lost control and hit the back of a Dhaka-bound moving truck in front of Kanthali Palli Bidyut on the highway. The deceased were identified as driver Kauser Sheikh, 25, and helper Imran, 26.
Kauser is the son of Sadar Ali of Sanura village in Netrokona. Imran is also the son of Chan Mia of Jugati village in the same district.
Upon receiving the news of the accident, the Bhaluka Fire Service personnel recovered the bodies and handed them over to the Varadoba Highway Police.
