Protests against the military coup in Myanmar have claimed lives again. Security forces opened fire on Thursday, killing at least eight protesters.
Six were killed in the town of Miyeng, one in Yangon's North Dagan district and one in Mandalay.
A hospital health worker also confirmed the deaths of six people. Meanwhile, local media in Yangon quoted Reuters as saying that a picture posted on social media Facebook showed a protester lying on the street.
Blood is coming out from the wound of his head. One protester was killed in Mandalay district. Protesters took to the streets in various parts of Myanmar on Thursday morning. Protesters in the Chinese city of Tamu staged a protest rally in Yangon's Sanchang district.
Police are conducting house-to-house searches in the district to find non-residents. At least 50 people have been detained in the operation. The security forces also warned that residents would be punished if anyone hid. On February 1, the military overthrew the civilian government in a military coup and seized power in Myanmar.
Suu Kyi, the elected leader, and most of the NLD leaders have been imprisoned by the army or at home.
In all, more than 2,000 people have been arrested so far. Protests have spread across Myanmar since the uprising. So far, more than 60 people have been killed in protests against the army government.
