UAE Ambassador to Israel Mohammed Mahmoud Al-Khawaja has been sworn in.
He took the oath of office on Sunday and was administered the oath of office by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the UAE's vice president and ruler of Dubai. Mahmoud Khwaja is the UAE's first ambassador to Israel.
Last month, the UAE cabinet formally approved the establishment of an embassy in the Israeli capital, Tel Aviv. At yesterday's swearing-in ceremony, Rashid al-Maktoum called on Ambassador Khazaar to work to deepen ties between the UAE and Israel.
He says the work must be done to promote a culture of peace, coexistence and tolerance in the UAE and Israel. Zionist Israel opened its embassy in Abu Dhabi last month, with Eitan Naih, a diplomat in charge.
