Two people have been fined Tk 7,000 for making adulterated date molasses in Dhamdhara village of Shibalaya upazila in Manikganj. Asaduzzaman Rumel, assistant director of the district office of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department, raided the village on Monday morning and fined them.
Asaduzzaman Rumel said that due to the reputation and demand of date molasses in Manikganj, some unscrupulous people are making date molasses by mixing sugar with date tree juice. Based on the allegations, a raid was carried out in Dhamdhara village around 7 am today. During the operation, Billal Hossain (60) and Mashgul Mia (48) were seen making adulterated molasses in the oven.
During interrogation, they confessed to making date molasses by mixing sugar. Admits their guilt. Billal Hossain was fined Tk 5,000 and Mashgul Mia Tk 2,000 for promising not to make adulterated gur in the future.
