Awami League candidate Khan Habibur Rahman has won the mayoral election in Bagerhat municipality. Incumbent Mayor Khan Habibur Rahman got 18,894 votes. BNP candidate Saeed Niaz Hossain Shaibal, who boycotted the polls at a press conference at the Bagerhat Press Club at 2pm on Sunday, got only 339 votes.

Sardar Shamim Hasan in Ward 1, Moniruzzaman Moni in Ward 2, Khan Abu Bakar in Ward 3, Kazi Tahidur Rahman Johnny in Ward 4, Rezaur Rahman Montu in Ward 8 and Hossain Faruk in Ward 9 have been elected as General Councilors in Bagerhat Municipality.

Abul Hashem Shipon, Talukder Abdul Baki and Shah Newaz Mollah Dolan have already been elected unopposed as general councilors in wards 5, 6 and 7.

Asma Akhter in wards 1, 2 and 3, Tania Khatun in wards 4, 5 and 6 and Sharifa Akhter in wards 7, 8 and 9 have been elected as reserved councilors.

Awami League candidates have been elected for all the posts of mayor, general councilor and reserved councilor in the Bagerhat municipality election.
