Students have protested in Sylhet demanding opening of educational institutions.
They started protesting in Chauhatta area of the city on Thursday afternoon. At that time, the students demanded the government and the Ministry of Education to withdraw the suspension of all examinations including the ongoing Masters, reopen all educational institutions and dormitories in compliance with healthcare. At the end of the program, they submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.
Hundreds of students started a human chain in front of the central Shaheed Minar in Sylhet and chanted slogans like 'Wake up, wake up - the students are awake, wake up! Later, when the road was blocked, the road up to Shaheed Minar-Chouhatta point was completely closed.
Upon receiving the news, Sylhet Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Azbahar Ali Sheikh and other senior officials reached the spot and calmed them down. After about an hour and a half, the students lifted the blockade.
