Actor ATM Shamsuzzaman is no more. He breathed his last at his residence in Sutrapur around 9 am on Saturday. But the body of this actor of more than five hundred movies will not be taken to FDC to pay his last respects.

Runi Zaman, the wife of ATM Shamsuzzaman, said that the actor had made such a request out of anger and arrogance. She said, "ATM was a very arrogant person. When he fell ill at home, no one in the movie came to see him. Although he was admitted to the hospital, no one came to see the movie. Didn't find it.

But he has given time behind acting all his life. What did he get from his colleagues at the end of his life? Out of this pride and anger, he has requested me not to take his body to FDC after his death. Earlier, ATM Shamsuzzaman was admitted to Azgar Ali Hospital in Old Dhaka on Wednesday morning for various physical ailments.

Abu Taher Mohammad (ATM) Shamsuzzaman was born on 10 September 1941 in Daulatpur, Noakhali. In 1961, director Udayan Chowdhury made his debut as an assistant director in the film Bisakanya. He came into the limelight in 1976 as a villain in Amjad Hossain's Nayanmani. The legendary comedian and villain won the National Film Award six times. In 1987, he won the first National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Kazi Hayat's Daiyi Ke.

He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 42nd National Film Awards in 1999 for his role as a comedian in 'Madame Fully', 'Churiwala' in 2001, 'Man Base Na Padar Tebile' in 2009, 'Chorabali' in 2012 and in 2017. He was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2015 for his outstanding contribution to the film world.
