Independent (Awami League rebel) candidate Rezaul Karim Swapan has been elected mayor of Lalmonirhat municipality.
On the other hand, Awami League candidate Rashedul Islam Suite has won the Patgram Municipality election.
Patgram Upazila Returning Officer and Executive Officer from Kamrunnahar Upazila Control Room privately declared Rashedul Islam Suite as the winner. The Returning Officer said Rezaul Karim Swapan got 10,973 votes for the coconut tree symbol.
His nearest rival Awami League candidate. Mofazzal Hossain got 9,590 votes for the boat symbol.
Rashedul Islam Suite got 12,611 votes for the boat symbol in Patgram municipality. His nearest rival BNP nominee Mostafa Salauzzaman got 3,221 votes for the Opel (Rice Sheaf) symbol. According to Lalmonirhat District Election Office, the total number of voters in Lalmonirhat Municipality is 47,759.
Of these, 23,577 are male voters and 24,182 are female voters. The total number of voters in Patgram municipality is 21,855.
Of these, 10,762 are male voters and 11,093 are female voters. Voting was held in Patgram municipality ballot.
