An 83-year-old man named Joe Legan has finally been released from a 68-year prison sentence in the United States.

He went to jail as a juvenile offender at the age of 15. Joe Legan was released from a Pennsylvania court on Feb. 11, according to a report in CNN on Thursday.

He is considered the country's oldest and longest-serving juvenile offender. Joe Legan was 15 years old when he was arrested and sent to prison in February 1953. He was sentenced to life imprisonment.

He was involved in a robbery and stabbing case in Philadelphia. Six people were injured and two were killed in the incident. At the time, Legan was charged with first-degree murder.

He also confessed to stabbing. Legan did not get a chance to be released on parole before. “I’ve grown up now,” he says.

I'm not a kid anymore. Not only am I a big man, I'm an old man and I'm getting older every day. An 83-year-old man has been released from jail in 2021.

That has grown, changed. No more threats. The damage he has done to society has been repaid. Now spend the last years of your life independently.
