In Chittagong's Patia municipality election, there were incidents of shelling, fire, throwing brickbats and chases in South Gobindarkhil Ward No. 8. One person was killed in the incident. The deceased was identified as Abdullah. He is said to be the brother of councilor candidate and current councilor Abdul Mannan.
A 20-year-old man was also injured in the clash. A clash broke out between supporters of councilor candidate Sarwar Kamal Rajib and Abdul Mannan at Dakshin Gobindarkheel Government Primary School in Ward No. 8 of the municipality around 12 noon on Sunday. He said there was an exchange of fire between the supporters of the councilor candidate in the Gobindarkhil area of Ward 8 of Patia Municipality over election-related issues.
One person was killed. Law enforcers have arrested councilor candidates Abdul Mannan and Sarwar Kamal Rajib in connection with the incidents.
After the incident, polling was stopped at Govindarkheel Government Primary School. Meanwhile, fire was set outside the center during the clash.
Upon receiving the news, the fire service team reached the spot and brought the fire under control.
