All preparations have been completed for vaccination against coronavirus in Nilphamari. The first vaccination will be given by Jasmine Nahar Setu, senior staff nurse of District Sadar Hospital. Hafizur Rahman Chowdhury said the program will be inaugurated simultaneously in Nilphamari on Sunday like the rest of the country.
After that, Civil Surgeon Jahangir Kabir will take over. The member secretary of the committee, the Civil Surgeon, said that the work of setting up coronavirus vaccination centers and booths in the district has been completed. Eleven booths have been set up at Sadar Hospital.
The first phase will be vaccinated using six booths. Five more booths will be used if required. He said two booths have also been set up in five other Upazila Health Complex centers in the district. Another booth has been set up at Syedpur Cantonment Hospital (CMH).
A total of 22 booths are ready in the district. Each booth will have two vaccinators and four volunteers. They have already been prepared with training. On January 31, the first phase of 60,000 doses of vaccine arrived in the district, he said, the vaccine will be given to 30,000 people in two doses.
As per the guidelines of the Department of Health, 26,110 people will get this vaccine in 15 special categories. Others have been kept in the general quota. A total of three and a half thousand people in the district have registered to get vaccinated online till 3:30 pm on Saturday, he said.
