International Mother Language Day was celebrated with due dignity in various places of West Bengal including Kolkata. The heroic martyrs of the mother tongue movement in Bangladesh in 1952 have been remembered with reverence.
Various social and cultural organizations of Kolkata have organized various programs on the occasion of the day. Apart from this, various programs are being celebrated at the initiative of Bengali speakers from different states including Tripura, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
