International Mother Language Day has been observed in Kalapara of Patuakhali with due dignity.
In the first morning of Ekushey, a wreath was laid at the central Shaheed Minar of the municipal city to pay homage to the language martyrs.
At 12:01 pm, the great Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day got off to a good start.
However, due to the corona virus, the upazila administration has taken a limited number of programs to observe the day.
To pay homage to the martyrs, Patukhali-4 MP Principal Mahibur Rahman Mahib MP, Upazila Chairman Bir Muktijoddha SM Rakibul Ahsan, Municipal Mayor Bipul Chandra Hawlader, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abu Hasnat Mohammad Shahidul Haque and Upazila Awami League General Secretary laid wreaths at the martyr's altar. Heroic freedom fighter Abdul Motaleb Talukder, convener principal of Upazila Mahila Awami League Fatema Akter Rekha and other Awami League leaders and workers.
Upazila administration, police administration, Kalapara Press Club, Kalapara Reporters Unity, various political organizations including Reporters Club, various social and cultural organizations including government and non-government educational institutions paid homage to the language martyrs at Shaheed Minar one by one. Kalapara Baul Sangha has organized a Gananatya festival at Shaheed Sheikh Kamal Memorial Complex on the occasion of Mujib Year.
In addition children's drawing and composition competitions, discussion meetings are organized. Meanwhile, Mahipur, Kuakata and Martyrs' Day and International Mother Language Day have been observed with due dignity in the upazila.
