Fifteen prominent citizens of the country have issued a statement condemning the report published in Qatar-based Al Jazeera. This information was given in a notification signed by the president of Sammilita Sangskritik Jote Golam Qudduch on Thursday.

In a statement, prominent citizens said that Al Jazeera television channel had recently tried to tarnish the image of the country by broadcasting deliberately distorted information about Bangladesh. In the past, Al Jazeera has also deliberately spread false information about the trial of war criminals and the location of Hefazat's Shapla Square. This channel is constantly spreading hateful news against our great liberation war, non-communal consciousness and Bangladesh which is advancing in all fields. They have recently been joined by an evil force that opposes freedom and democracy.

We strongly condemn Al Jazeera's role and expect the government to take appropriate action and clarify its position on the issue," the statement said.
