The BNP has said that the Election Commission (EC) has turned the country's electoral system into a ruin to fulfill the wishes of the government. The team said the EC was involved in irregularities, financial scandals and recruitment trade.

Their only goal is to make the government happy while protecting corruption and jobs. Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the remarks at a press conference held at the BNP's Naya Paltan headquarters in the capital on Friday. In the municipalities where the elections will be held on Sunday, the hooliganism of the state power is already showing.

Ruhul Kabir Thakurgaon, Mymensingh's Phulpur, Narsingdi, Satkhira, Jessore and other municipalities have been barred from campaigning for BNP candidates. Criticizing the EC's role, Rizvi said Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda wanted to forget about fair voting and the smooth flow of voters.

Referring to the statements of 42 prominent citizens on the EC's corruption, he said that the crime committed by the commission was indeed an indictable crime.
