Despite being alive in Sherpur, Bogra, the name of an Awami League leader has been removed from the final voter list by showing him dead. The name of the Awami League leader is Badiuzzaman Badi. He is a resident of Banamaricha village in Garidaha union of the upazila. Besides, the local number two ward is in charge of the general secretary of Awami League. Besides, potential candidates for the post of UP member in the upcoming Union Parishad elections.
Abdus Sobhan, a former member of the ward concerned, and Helena Bibi, a reserved female member of ward number one, are being blamed for the incident. The Awami League leader also lodged a written complaint with the police on Wednesday after the incident was confirmed by looking at the National Election Commission's database.
According to the complaint, a man named Abdul Mottaleb of Banamaricha village of Garidaha Union died in 2019. With that name, Awami League leader Badiuzzaman Badir's name and national identity card number were added to the voter list. This informant is former UP member Abdus Sobhan. Helena Bibi, a reserved female member, signed the form certifying it as a verifier. It has been mentioned in the record file of the Upazila Election Office that the information matched.
Badiuzzaman Badi complained that he has prepared for the upcoming Union Parishad elections for the post of UP member. According to him, I am maintaining contact with the voters. Former UP member Abdus Sobhan is jealous of his popularity and is involved in various conspiracies. Following this, this tactic was resorted to to prevent him from contesting the elections. His name was removed from the final voter list by giving false information to the election office by colluding with the two people's representatives.
However, two days ago, while checking and sorting the voter list, he saw that his name had been cut off as a dead person. He later informed the matter to the Upazila Election Officer. He also lodged a written complaint with the police against the two persons responsible for the incident. So that people with this kind of tout-batter nature get exemplary punishment, says Bodi.
Asked about this, Upazila Election Officer Asiya Khatun admitted the truth of the incident and said that Badiuzzaman's name was removed from the voter list on the basis of false information given by a female member of the concerned ward and a former UP member. The two men have been called to the election office for an explanation for such activities. In addition, the commission will be informed in the form of a recommendation to cut the name of the living as dead. As well as his name will be replaced. He also expressed hope that there would be no problem in contesting the elections.
Meanwhile, Abdus Sobahan, a former UP member of Ward No. 2 of the accused Garidaha Union, claimed his innocence, saying he had not given any information or recommendation to the Election Office to cut anyone's name. The former UP member claimed that the opposition had brought false allegations against him to gain advantage ahead of the upcoming elections.
Helena Bibi, a reserved female UP member of ward number one, said in this regard, "My recommendation and signature have been used to cut the names in the voter list. It is fake and fake." I have no minimum involvement with this. Therefore, he also demanded exemplary punishment by bringing the culprits involved in this incident under the law.
