Leaders and activists of BNP, Juba Dal and Chhatra Dal have staged a protest rally in the capital against the sentencing of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman in a defamation case in a Narail court.

The protest procession was held under the leadership of BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Thursday afternoon.

The procession started from in front of the BNP's central office in Naya Paltan, went around Kakrail, Nightingale turn and ended in front of Naya Paltan with a short rally.

Juba Dal leader Golam Maula Shahin, Chhatra Dal president Fazlur Rahman Khokon, general secretary Iqbal Hossain Shyamal, senior vice-president Kazi Raunkul Islam Shravan, senior joint general secretary Aminur Rahman Amin, organizing secretary Saif Mahmud Jewel and vice-president Omar Far took part in the procession. Kawshar, Parthadev Mandal, Joint-General Secretary Shahnewaz, Tanjil Hasan, DU Chhatra Dal convener Rakibul Islam Rakib, SM Hall's HM Abu Jafar and thousands of other leaders and activists.

Leaders and activists in the procession demanded to withdraw the sentence and case against Tarique Rahman.
