Students of Government Brajmohan (BM) College have staged a two-and-a-half-hour road blockade in Barisal demanding the taking of all year examinations including oral and practical examinations of the fourth year and written examinations of Masters.
They blocked the road in front of the college from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm on Thursday. As a result, the road from Nathullabad Central Bus Terminal to the heart of the city was closed to traffic.
Although the examination schedule of 7 colleges under Dhaka University was announced, the examination schedule of the colleges affiliated to the National University was not announced.
As a result, they are lagging behind in education. They have not been able to apply for jobs in various government departments including BCS as the Honors and Masters examinations have not been completed.
This has caused uncertainty in their lives. They demanded to open the educational institution quickly. During the siege at around 12:30 pm, the college principal Prof. Dr. Golam Kibria came and assured the agitating students but they said they would continue the agitation.
When the students lifted the blockade at around 2 pm, the traffic became normal. Assistant Commissioner of Metropolitan Police (Kotwali) said. Russell said that the police are on alert in the BM College area so that the students do not get distracted. Golam Kibria said the overall situation has been reported to the National University authorities. They will take action according to the decision of the authorities. However, he is trying to avoid suffering due to the student movement.
