BNP leaders have complained that they are being obstructed on the way to a rally at Khulna Shaheed Maharaja Chattar demanding elections under a neutral government.

Meanwhile, a procession of about 10,000 leaders and activists broke through the police barricade and reached the rally site at 12:30 pm on Saturday.

They were seen holding placards with pictures of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and Khulna BNP leader Rakibul Islam Bakul. Engineer Ishraq Hossain is the BNP's mayoral candidate in the city corporation election.

Ishraq alleged that law enforcers tried to stop his car at different times on the way from Dhaka to Khulna.

Leaders and activists chanted slogans in protest of the obstruction of the procession. Later, Azizul Bari Helal told reporters, 'We were going to the rally with a peaceful procession.

But the police obstructed our procession. In a democratic country, everyone has the right to assemble. I strongly condemn and protest this incident.
