Awami League nominated candidate in Shibchar municipality of Madaripur without contest. Awlad Hossain Khan has been elected mayor.

While returning the symbols among the candidates on Friday, the Returning Officer privately declared him the winner. It is learned that the fifth phase will be held on February 28 in Shibchar Municipality. On the occasion of the election, the Election Commission distributed symbols among the candidates in the conference room of the Upazila Parishad on Friday morning.

At this time there is no rival candidate for the post of mayor, the Awami League nominated candidate. Awlad Hossain Khan was privately declared the winner by the Returning Officer. Returning Officer and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Asaduzzaman said, ‘The Awami League nominated candidate has been elected privately as there is no rival candidate for the post of mayor in the municipal elections. Voting for the post of councilor will be held in this municipality.

Symbols have been allotted among the candidates. From today, they will be able to campaign in accordance with the code of conduct. 'The returning officer also said that strict action will be taken against any candidate who is found to have violated the code of conduct. Elections will be held in the municipality on February 28.

In this election, voting will be held through EVM in 47 centers. A total of 17,978 voters including 9,017 women and 8,961 male voters will exercise their voting right in this municipality.
