Awami League nominee Syed Monirul Islam has been elected mayor of Shibganj municipality in Chapainawabganj. He got 15,741 votes.
His closest rival, the BNP's rice sheaf candidate. Oziul Islam Ozul Mia got 9,989 votes. Besides, Jatiya Party candidate Md. Afzal Hossain got only 542 votes.
