ATM Shamsuzzaman, a well-known actor, was laid to rest at Jurain Cemetery in the capital next to his eldest son. The ATM told the children to sleep here before they died. His burial was completed after Asr.

Later, his second janaza was held at Sutrapur Jame Mosque. Abu Taher Mohammad (ATM) Shamsuzzaman was born on 10 September 1941 in Daulatpur, Noakhali. In 1961, he started his first career as an assistant director in director Udayan Chowdhury's film Bisakanya.
He made his acting debut in 1965. He came into the limelight in 1976 as a villain in Amjad Hossain's Nayanmani. The legendary comedian and villain won the National Film Award six times.
In 1987, he won the first National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Kazi Hayat's Daiyi Ke.
He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 42nd National Film Awards in 1999 for his role as a comedian in 'Madame Fully', 'Churiwala' in 2001, 'Man Base Na Padar Tebile' in 2009, 'Chorabali' in 2012 and in 2017. He was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2015 for his outstanding contribution to the film world.
