Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has said that Al Jazeera's report against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government is intentional and a dirty manifestation of propaganda.

He was speaking at a press conference on contemporary issues at his official residence in the Parliament House area on Wednesday.

Obaidul Quader said that the media of Bangladesh is working independently and is also criticizing the government. In a country where so many 'vibrant and active media' have not received any information, it is highly reprehensible for Al Jazeera television to spread false information about Sheikh Hasina.

Mentioning that there is a conspiracy of those who are sitting in London and spreading anti-national propaganda and inciting, he said that people think that this report is part of a London-based conspiracy. There is no truth to this.

Stating that the Sheikh Hasina government is in a very strict position against injustice, irregularities and corruption, the general secretary of the Awami League said that the government has already adopted the policy of 'zero tolerance' against corruption through cleansing campaign.

He said the law of Bangladesh is running at its own pace and independently. The Anti-Corruption Commission is working under its own legal powers and authority without any pressure.

The bridge minister said linking the responsibility of an individual to the head of government calls into question the principle of journalism, it is not proper journalism.

He said, 'Sheikh Hasina is the most successful Prime Minister in the country after '75. His courageous and skilful leadership is acclaimed worldwide. Conspiracies and propaganda against the country and the government sitting at home and abroad will not be of any use but will be a boomerang.

Obaidul Quader also said that the people are on the side of Sheikh Hasina and the huge victory of the Awami League candidates in the ongoing municipal elections is the proof of that even after so much propaganda in the past.

The Minister of Road Transport and Bridges called on the Al Jazeera television authorities to stop such intentional, misleading and one-sided reports without cooperating in the implementation of the anti-national evil agenda.

He said those who have not yet accepted the country's independence and the country's development, achievements and progress are engaged in a series of tactical conspiracies in the report.
