A fire broke out inside the Ghorashal Fertilizer Factory at Palash in Narsingdi. The fire broke out on Friday afternoon when a Titas gas pipeline leaked while piling a building under construction.
Authorities initially assumed that there was extensive damage in the fire. Upon receiving the news, two units of Palash and four units of Narsingdi Fire Service reached the spot and brought the fire under control in about five hours.
No casualties were reported in the incident. However, construction supervisor Babu Mia fears that about Tk 3 crore worth of goods used in the piling work have been burnt. Nurul Islam, deputy director of the Narsingdi Fire Service Unit, said the workers had been piling a building inside the factory since morning.
The Titas gas pipeline leaked due to piling at around 12 noon and caught fire.
Gas company personnel reached the spot and extinguished the fire by closing the connection from the bulk station.
