148 Bangladeshis have returned home from Libya.
The bodies of 7 expatriate Bangladeshis who died at different times in Libya have been sent on the same flight.
Shariful Hasan, head of migration at BRAC, a private company, said the flight arrived in Dhaka at 9.30am on Wednesday. A team from BRAC then provided emergency assistance, including food, with the help of the Expatriate Welfare Desk and the Armed Police Force (APBN).
In addition, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has provided financial assistance to everyone to go home. Although they landed in the morning, their formality at the airport did not end till 1 pm.
We have learned that these Bangladeshis went to Libya for the purpose of going to Europe. Airport officials said that the flight with Bangladeshis from Libya took off from Benina Airport on Tuesday (February 23) at 6 pm.
Most of the returning Bangladeshis traveled to Libya via Europe via Dubai on travel visas.
Every year a large number of Bangladeshis try to go to Europe through Libya.
