The cold wave has started again in Panchagarh. Ordinary people cannot go to work due to winter. The poor people who work hard have become helpless. They say winter clothes are in crisis.

The Tentulia Meteorological Office said a temperature of 13.7 degrees Celsius was recorded in Tentulia on Monday.

Meanwhile, in Panchagarh, the Kshet Muzur Samiti has staged a procession demanding warm clothes to protect the common people from the extreme cold of winter in Bangladesh. They also held a sit-in in front of the deputy commissioner's office.

The procession left the Panchagarh government auditorium premises on Tuesday afternoon and took position in front of the deputy commissioner's office. About four hundred men and women took part in the protest procession. Later on the same day, the president of the district committee of the field workers' association. Ashraful Islam and General Secretary Rahidul Islam Mintu handed over a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.

The memorandum demanded distribution of blankets to the family members of the listed farm laborers.

Deputy Commissioner. Sabina accepted the memorandum and sent it to Boda and Debiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officers to take necessary action.

District CPB president Rezaul Islam, editorial board member Firoza Khandaker Chameli, Debiganj Upazila CBP president Hasan Ali and Boda Upazila Kshetmajur Samiti president Ram Kishore were present at the time.

 Deputy Commissioner. Sabina Yasmin said 21,800 blankets have been distributed in the district through Upazila Nirbahi Officers and people's representatives. Besides, Tk 30 lakh has been allocated for the collection and distribution of winter clothes locally in each upazila. Five lakh rupees has been allocated for winter clothes at the district level. The distribution of these winter clothes continues. Besides, various government and non-government organizations and voluntary organizations have continued to distribute winter clothes on their own initiative. UNOs have been instructed to take necessary steps in this regard.
