Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Nur Taposh has protested against former mayor Mohammad Saeed Khokon's offensive remarks against Awami League leaders and activists in Dhaka-10 constituency.
Speakers at a meeting at Dhanmondi's Rabindra Sarobar on Saturday demanded the expulsion of Saeed Khokon from the party. Besides, they declared him unwanted in 10 constituencies including Dhanmondi No. 32. Later, the leaders and workers handed over a memorandum to the Prime Minister. Dhanmondi Thana Awami League president Kamal Ahmed presided over the function.
Speakers said Saeed Khokon was corrupt during his tenure as mayor. Failed to control dengue. However, he wanted to cover up his own failures and dishonesty by poisoning the current mayor. He needs to be expelled from the team. At that time the leaders and activists demanded his trial.
Kazi Morshed Kamal, joint secretary of Mahanagar Awami League, Iliasur Rahman Babul, president of Hazaribagh Thana Awami League, Sadek Hamid Saju, general secretary, Rafiqul Islam Babla, general secretary of Dhanmondi Thana Awami League, Nazmul Karim Tinku, president of Kalabagan Thana Awami League, Nazrul Islam Babul, general secretary. New Market Thana Awami League President Jasim Uddin Ahmed, General Secretary Hanif Mia and others were present.
Hazaribagh Thana Awami League president Iliasur Rahman said the rally was organized by leaders and activists of all units of Awami League and its affiliates in Dhaka-10 constituency. There has also been a demand to expel Saeed Khokon from the party. A few days ago, a similar memorandum was given to the Prime Minister by the Hazaribagh Thana Awami League demanding the expulsion of Saeed Khokon.
