Calling for confidence in electronic voting machines (EVMs), Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said there was no scope for fraud in the EVM system. Whoever is a voter, only he can vote.

He told reporters after a law and order coordination meeting in Savar on the occasion of municipal elections. The meeting was held at the Upazila Parishad auditorium on Wednesday afternoon.

Responding to a question from reporters, the CEC said that political parties around the world are against the conduct of elections. Those who lose do not want to accept the result. It is political culture. Even if the Awami League lost, they would accuse the BNP of rigging the election.

KM Nurul Huda said, "I have learned what the municipal election will be like and what to do. The election environment is very good." There is no danger of any clash anywhere. The election administrators are also satisfied with the behavior of the candidates.

He further told reporters that the interest of voters in EVMs has increased. Eighty-five percent of voters cast ballots in the December 30 election. In the municipalities where elections have been held so far under EVM system, there are no complaints to be taken into consideration.

We are dreaming of changing the culture of elections," the CEC said, adding that law enforcement agencies would take steps to stop the use of illegal weapons, including banning the movement of foreigners during elections. EVMs are being used to implement that. If someone picks up the EVM, they will not be able to cast a single vote there. Because, there is no chance to vote for Falls here. Only he can vote.

Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Shahidul Islam chaired the coordination meeting, among others, Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Khalilur Rahman, Election Commission Secretary. Alamgir, Dhaka Range DIG Habibur Rahman, Superintendent of Police Maruf Hossain Sardar and others were present.
