Germany lost to coronavirus. A total of 1,188 people died of a new corona in the country on Thursday, the highest number of deaths in a single day.
Besides, 31,849 people were newly infected with corona at the same time. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), a German disease control agency.
Although the duration of the ongoing lockdown has increased, the death toll due to the virus has not decreased. Germany imposed a severe lockdown from December 16 to January 10 to curb the infection. But the lockdown period is being extended till January 31 as it did not get the expected results.
On Tuesday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel held an online meeting with the chief ministers of 16 states. According to the new decision, more stringent rules have been issued on lockdown.
Under the new lockdown rules, everything except food supermarkets, book and drug stores, doctors' chambers have been declared closed.
People have been advised to stay at home without emergency work. Curfew has been imposed in areas where the number of victims is high from 12 noon to 6 am.
Chancellor Merkel and the chief ministers of 16 states called on the people to abide by all the rules of lockdown. They also requested not to meet each other without urgent need.
