The northern towns are trembling in the cold. The normal life of the people of this region has been disrupted again due to the effects of the cold wave.

Rajarhat in the northern district of Kurigram recorded a low of 5.5 degrees Celsius at 9 am on Sunday, the lowest in the country.

Subal Chandra Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Rajarhat Agriculture and Meteorological Observatory in Kurigram, confirmed the matter. He said the cold wave over the region could last a few more days.

Concerned people said that the level of cold in Kankan has also increased due to fog like raindrops from the night. Even during the day, nature is covered with thick fog. Boro farming has been disrupted as workers have not been able to go to work despite the cold in Kankan. Due to the dense fog, the vehicles have to keep their headlights on even during the day. Due to the severe winter, day laborers, people of Chhinnamul and Char areas have suffered.

Meanwhile, in the next 24 hours forecast from 9 am on Sunday, the meteorological department said that severe cold wave is prevailing in Kurigram and Rajshahi districts and mild cold wave is prevailing in Mymensingh, Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions and Tangail, Faridpur and Madaripur areas. Besides, Gopalganj, Nikli, Srimangal, Khulna, Jessore, Chuadanga, Kushtia, Barisal and Bhola may continue.

According to the forecast, the weather may remain dry across the country. Moderate to heavy fog may fall across the country from midnight to morning. Night temperatures may drop slightly in Chittagong and Barisal divisions and it may remain almost unchanged in some parts of the country.
