Responding to the Chittagong City Corporation (CHC) election, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, chief coordinator of the BNP's election steering committee and a member of the standing committee, said there was no vote.
He made the remarks at a press conference with party mayoral candidate Shahadat Hossain in front of the BNP office in Mahanagar on Wednesday evening, about an hour and a half after the polls closed.
Asked by reporters whether the BNP would reject the results of the Chittagong City Corporation elections like any other, he said there was no vote here. Where there is no election, there is no rejection.
Amir Khasru said that no election was held in Chittagong, it has been established. Our election was not with the Awami League, it was with the Awami administration, the Awami law enforcement and the Awami terrorists.
If a BNP mayoral candidate wins, will he accept it? When a journalist asked him this question, he said, "Let sandalwood fall on your face."
Amir Khasru also said that in the mayoral election of Chittagong metropolis, the Awami law enforcement and the administration have fulfilled their responsibilities to the letter. Under an illegitimate government, under an illegitimate election commission, the BNP's sole purpose was to hold elections we believe in democracy. Our commitment to democracy.
Mentioning that the BNP took part in the election knowingly, he said, "The Awami League has an extreme weakness with the election, it is their weakness to seek votes from the people." They have proved it again today.
Complaining that the Awami League has turned the city into a gathering place for terrorists in the last few days surrounding the Chittagong city elections, Amir Khasru said it was brought from different areas in the north-south of Chittagong. They openly practiced weapons. There was an anagona of foreigners in every center of the election. They occupied the center as well as beat up and kicked out our party workers, agents. Thousands of BNP leaders and activists have been accused in at least 20 cases surrounding the city elections.
It was informed at the press conference that about 200 people including councilor candidates, agents and leaders and activists were injured in the attack of Awami League in the city elections.
Commenting that the present government-administration has also disputed the EVM system of voting, Amir Khasru said that mock voting was done in EVM a few days ago. This time they also stole votes in EVM at night. Some machines did not even have the symbol of a sheaf of rice. If you vote for something like a sheaf of rice, you will vote for the mango symbol. They have used EVMs to steal votes.
BNP mayoral candidate said. Shahadat Hossain said, the BNP's agent in the election, the people were completely helpless. I think today's election has turned into torture. I complained to the Returning Officer. I also asked him to take action. But nothing did.
Commenting that the present government has turned the election into a 'culture of vote robbery', he said the Awami League has once again exposed the history of vote robbery through the Chittagong City Corporation elections.
