A schoolgirl has committed suicide after arguing with her father over her mobile phone. The deceased was identified as Chameli Bhowmik, 12. The incident took place in Tupiwala Para area of Panchlaish police station in Chittagong city on Tuesday night (January 19).
The deceased Chameli Bhowmik was a sixth class student of Bakalia Government Girls High School. Police said she was the daughter of Swapan Bhowmik of the area. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Panchlaish Police Station Abul Kashem Bhuiyan confirmed the incident.
He said the girl committed suicide with a rope around her neck after arguing with her father over her mobile phone. The body was recovered and sent to the morgue for autopsy. Further action will be taken after receiving the autopsy report.
