Election Commission (EC) Secretariat Senior Secretary. Alamgir said peaceful voting has been completed in 60 municipalities with the cooperation of all. The overall situation in the election was very good.

The EC secretary said this at a press conference at the election building in Dhaka in the evening after the polling on Saturday.

He said voters have been voting in an orderly manner since the morning. I expect 70 to 75 percent of the vote in this election. However, the exact result will be known.

He added that the second round of elections ended peacefully. In one or two places, it can be said that in some places, the miscreants wanted to disrupt the vote. However, the members of the law enforcement agencies in charge of the elections have taken full control of them and they have not given a chance to ruin the election environment. Some miscreants do this as soon as the vote comes, they are opportunists.

The EC secretary said that in 60 municipal elections, some miscreants suddenly entered a center in Boalmari municipality after 12 noon and tried to snatch ballot papers. The presiding officer postponed the vote at the center even though he could not pick up the ballot papers as the box was broken. In another Kishoreganj, they were snatching a box and taking it away, the presiding officer also declared it closed. Besides, voting has been smooth and beautiful in all the centers of 60 municipalities.

Giving an idea of the percentage of votes cast in the second phase of the municipal polls, the EC secretary said that 80 per cent votes were cast in some centers and up to 70 per cent in others.

He said in the second phase of this year's municipal elections, 29 out of 60 municipalities in the country have voted by EVM and 31 by ballot. However, he noted that the EVM had more votes.
