A female passenger was killed when a passenger bus collided with the girder of a bridge under construction at Kahalu in Bogra. At least 30 people were injured in the accident near Dargahhat Bogra Bhandar Jute Mill on Kahalu Upazila on the Bogra-Naogaon road on Friday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Fahima Begum, 40. She is the wife of Afzal Hossain of Baniachapar village in Khetlal upazila of Joypurhat district.
Police and locals said a Shakib Paribahan bus was going to Khetlal in Joypurhat from Bogra. On the way, the bus collided with the girder of the bridge under construction in Dargahat area and twisted. The bus passenger Fahima Begum died on the spot. At least 30 passengers were injured in the incident. Upon receiving the news, the police and fire service personnel rescued the injured and admitted them to different hospitals.
Kahalu Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zia Latiful Islam said the body of the slain woman was recovered. Police seized the bus. However, the driver-helper escaped.
