The death toll from an earthquake in Indonesia has risen to 34. More than 600 people were injured. A magnitude 6.2 earthquake shook the island of Sulawesi early Friday (January 15th) local time. Several buildings were damaged in the quake. Panicked residents moved to safer areas at the time.
The epicenter was reported at 6 km (3.73 miles) northeast of the town of Majeni on the island of Sulawesi at a depth of 10 km. The earthquake lasts 7 seconds. However, there is no risk of a tsunami. No warning was issued in this regard. A tsunami alert will be issued if a stronger earthquake hits.
