Lionel Messi received a last-minute red card in the Spanish Super Copa final on Sunday. The Argentine forward, who saw the red card for the first time in his 18-year career in Barcelona, has been banned for two matches. A committee of the Spanish Football Federation sentenced him on Tuesday.
Messi will therefore not be able to play against Cornell in the Copa del Rey and against Elche in La Liga. He would stay out of the match for one match just to see the red card. The Catalan star is one more match to hit the opponent's footballer on the shoulder.
Barcelona were 2-1 up to 90 minutes into the Super Copa final last Sunday. Athletico Bilbao footballer Ayre Villibre equalized when they were close to the title. Then in the 93rd minute Inaki Williams scored the goal and brought the team to the title.
Messi lost his temper after scoring that goal in the last minute. While running, Messi pushed Valibre in front of him and threw him on the shoulder. So he has to see the red card. This time he got a two-match ban for violating the code of conduct. Messi saw the red card in the 763rd match of his Bara career.
