Due to heavy fog on the Paturia-Daulatdia water route, ferry services have been suspended. Authorities suspended ferry and launch operations around 10pm on Friday.

The decision was taken to avoid accidents at one stage as the fog density has been increasing since Friday evening. Vehicles in 21 districts in the west and south of the country are stuck waiting for the crossing due to the closure of ferry services. Passengers have suffered in the severe winter in the ghat area.

Around 400 buses, trucks and other vehicles are stuck in the Paturia Ghat area waiting for the ferry crossing.

Zillur Rahman, DGM, Aricha office, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), said ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia water route have been suspended since 10pm on Friday due to heavy fog. Once the thick fog clears, the ferry service will resume on this route.
