Iran has called on the South Korean government to act logically and responsibly in response to the seizure of a South Korean-flagged oil tanker from the Persian Gulf.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatizadeh told reporters on Tuesday that the seizure of a South Korean ship had been a "technical matter" and that Iran was as sensitive about protecting the maritime environment as any other country. In that case action has been taken as per law.

Saeed Khatibzadeh said, "The South Korean government's behavior on this issue is not acceptable. We urge the Korean government to act responsibly and responsibly. "

On Monday, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) naval arm seized an oil tanker named MT Hancock Kemi from South Korea. The ship was blamed for polluting the Persian Gulf environment.

Soon after receiving news of the shipwreck, South Korea ordered its destroyer Rox Choi Young, deployed near the Strait of Hormuz, to sail to the Persian Gulf. South Korea's foreign ministry also submitted a report to parliament today, saying it was preparing to take legal action against Iran over its seizure of an oil tanker.

Kang Min-seok, a spokesman for the president's office in South Korea, said the government took the tanker's detention "very seriously" and was holding coordination meetings with the National Security Agency, the National Intelligence Agency and other ministries.
