The results were announced last night after voting in five municipal elections in Bogra. In the private results, two boats, two paddy sheaves and one independent candidate have won. Ballot papers were taken in Shibganj, Dhunat, Gabtali, Nandigram and Kahalu municipalities on Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm.
Incumbent Awami League nominee Touhidur Rahman Manik (Nauka) has been re-elected as the mayor of Shibganj municipality. He got 12 thousand 398 votes. His closest BNP candidate Matiar Rahman Matin (Rice Sheaf) got 2,366 votes.
BNP nominee Abdul Mannan alias Bhata Mannan (Paddy Sheaf) has been elected mayor of Kahalu municipality with 5,281 votes. His closest Awami League nominee is Alhaj. Helal Uddin Kabiraj (Boat) got 4,290 votes.
Awami League nominee Anisur Rahman (Nauka) has been elected mayor of Nandigram municipality. He got 7 thousand 683 votes. His closest BNP nominee Sushant Kumar Shant (Rice Sheaf) got 5,183 votes.
Incumbent Awami League rebel independent candidate AGM Badshah (Jug) has been elected as the incumbent mayor of Dhunat municipality. He got 3 thousand 906 votes. The nearest Awami League nominated candidate TIM Nurunnabi Tariq (Nauka) got 2,232 votes and former BNP nominated former mayor Alimuddin Harun Mandal (rice husk) got 2,223 votes.
In Gabtali municipality, BNP-nominated incumbent mayor Saiful Islam (Rice Sheaf) has been re-elected mayor. He got 7 thousand 943 votes. Mominul Haque Shilu (Nauka) of his nearest Awami League got 6,245 votes.
